WHY NOT BRING MY WATERCOLOR SUPPLIES TO CLASS?
It is very unlikely you already have the Pilot Razor Point pen or any really good water soluble pen. The technique depends on it. You may have wonderful paints. The format of the Winsor & Newton 14-half-pan set allows you to hold paints and pad in one hand inside your ‘personal space’ so no one bothers you or looks at your work so you can sketch in public fearlessly.
WHY SPECIFY THE PILOT RAZOR POINT PEN?
It is the best water soluble pen I have found, hence it allows you to get ‘washes’ out of the drawn line. It becomes both the ‘skeleton’ of the sketch, and your value scale. It mixes perfectly with watercolor, allowing you to go straight from putting a mark on paper to ‘doing watercolor’ without any painful lessons.
WHY BUY THE FANNYPACK?
It's totally portable. All your equipment is in one place and ready to go. When you are using the fanny strap, your bag becomes an easel to hold your sketch pad so you don’t tire and you stay working in your personal space. When you are wearing the cross-body strap you can go shopping and not look silly wearing a fanny pack. Everything inside - money, credit cards, healthcare card, etc. YOU CAN GO ANYWHERE!
WHY STRATHMORE DRAWING PAPER?
It allows the pen to ‘run’. There are other excellent papers, usually more expensive. Many papers have a surface that absorbs ink and will not allow the pen to ‘run’ into washes. With only 24 pages (48 usable sides), this pad is light enough to not tire your hand. With a spiral, the used pages tuck under, not cantilever out in space (inviting strangers to bother you). The pad covers are light weight.
DO YOU OFFER ONLINE WORKSHOPS?
People are loving the on-line format. We use Zoom and open 15-20 minutes early for participants to log on, get settled and socialize with other students. Class includes demonstrations, practice, evaluations and homework. The class is recorded and available for two weeks for review. From the quality of the homework, we see that people are truly learning!
