Pinetop, Arizona - at high elevation with pines and oak. The daily high is around 85°. We spent 3 weeks in a VRBO where I could paint, laying all my stuff out on an indoor jacuzzi. What a wonderful break! The 3 sketches are from Rainbow Lake there. (Notice I used wax on the water and forgot to leave space for my signature. Our pen does not write on wax.)The very fast sketches of the horses are from watching the Belmont horse race on TV.TipIf you do watercolor, try watercolor canvas mounted on board. You can remove all mistakes with water and re-paint areas over and over. It doesn't handle like watercolor paper. (More like illustration.) Tom Lynch, who teaches both live and online excellent watercolor workshops (tomlynch.com) had his sales double when he started showing watercolors framed without glass. (No reflection, light weight, no breakage.) Varnish the surface when done using acrylic UV spray. Road-ReadyWe are in Tucson re-loading the car to teach in Coupeville, WA. It is 105. We may 'own the winter', but Tucson is not comfortable in summer! We will be in Flagstaff tonight on the way to workshops in Washington and Oregon. There's still space left in each of the workshops.
